The General Court confirms the Commission communication refusing to take the action requested in the European citizens\u2019 initiative \u2018Minority SafePack \u2013 one million signatures for diversity in Europe\u2019<\/p>\n
The action already taken by the European Union to emphasise the importance of regional or minority
\nlanguages and to promote cultural and linguistic diversity is sufficient to achieve the objectives of that initiative
\nThe applicant, Citizens\u2019 Committee of the European Citizens\u2019 Initiative \u2018Minority SafePack \u2013 one million signatures for diversity in Europe\u2019, requested that the European Commission register the proposed European citizens\u2019 initiative
\n(ECI) entitled \u2018Minority SafePack \u2013 one million signatures for diversity in Europe\u2019. 1<\/p>\n
The aim of the proposed ECI was to invite the European Union to adopt a series of acts in order to improve the
\nprotection of persons belonging to national and linguistic minorities and to strengthen cultural and linguistic
\ndiversity in the European Union.<\/p>\n
